(More customer reviews)Four stars? Yes, I know. All Lego products deserve five stars. And if you look at my other reviews, you'll find plenty of high ratings for Lego, especially the small-size Technic sets. These sets are great, even for younger builders, as they exhibit mechanical functions in a simple and direct way. They also hold together better than their brick-built cousins.
This set falls short in the playability department. It has a knob to control the steering, and there is a single spring that allows for both front and back suspension. On the whole however, the kids have not been terribly interested in playing with it. They much prefer some of the other Technic vehicles that have more functions. For example, they really enjoy the two sets that bracket this one (8065 and 8067). That said, one of the values of Lego is that it can be rebuilt; my kids have already taken apart the Jeep and started building it into unrecognizable contraptions. There is merit in something that encourages redesign.
