(More customer reviews)This expansion pack is a great addition. What it does is make the catapult become the most important weapon of the game, and this is truly 'game changing'.
In the basic Battleground game, the firepower of the canon and the crossbow make them the most useful items. The catapults are very hard to master and there is very little incentive to use them: the other weapons achieve the destruction needed much more effectively.
With this pack, you need the catapult to release your prisoner (done by hitting the target above the cage) and you have a strong incentive to achieve this: a player gets to have three shots or moves each turn instead of two while holding a prisoner. The player that releases his prisoner before his opponent gets to have a one shot advantage for each turn until the opponent achieves the same and this makes a big difference.
It is a great feeling to hit a target with the catapult! And with this pack, one gets the practice to come good at it. My son and I find ourselves using catapults much more than before, and discover how useful they are to get rid of flags or opponents hiding behind weapons.
The Battleground game is a great toy. My 6 yr old son and I love it and we highly recommend it. And this expansion pack makes it even better.
