(More customer reviews)My 5 1/2 received this for Christmas and it was his favorite toy! There are three machine/trucks to build and each one is packaged individually. Being a Lego's rookie I was intimidated with the 298 pieces listed. However, the instructions were so easy to follow, the photos were great and he was able to assemble each item with little supervision. It was a great way to spend time together. I was amazed at his ability and he was so proud of himself. Now he enjoys creating stories to act out with the set. Its a wonderful set for practicing his manual dexterity, spacial relations, patience building, logic and learning to follow directions. I'm hooked. Thomas the Tank Engine wood trains and tracks were expensive and now were on to another pricey addiction. High praise for this set.
