(More customer reviews)My eight year old daughter and her father have spent a lot of time with this set during the summer. First, they built the ferry, per instructions, which also has a nice car and trailer. Then they built an impressively realistic Deadliest-Catch-like crab boat and have made other fun lego things never envisioned by the Lego designer.
Putting it together per the instructions is like a 3 dimensional jigsaw puzzle. Reassembling it your own way gives plenty of creativity. There are enough pieces here that if this was the only Lego set you had, you could still have hours and hours and hours of fun making your own creations and not feel immediately frustrated that you needed more pieces. The variety of different blocks is excellent.
And the ferry itself is a very cool toy. Working ramps, a car and trailer to go up the ramps, then sail around: it's just fun. It's also detailed and plain fun to look at.
I hope there will be more Creator sets of this scope.

Prepare to set sail! Load your ferry up with vehicles using the working back ramp and transport your cargo safely across the sea. Then use the geared lever to open the front doors and unload at your distant destination. Turn the gear to lower the ramp to drive the car onto the ferry then raise the ramp to set sail. Unlatch the front doors, turn the gear to open the doors, and drive the car off of the ferry. Ferry is on wheels so it can move in any direction.
Set includes a car with trailer attached to load onto the ferry, and comes with instructions to rebuild into a transport hovercraft or a cargo plane. Ferry measures 16" long and 5" wide. 1,279 pieces.
