The Prison Carriage Rescue set was my son's introduction to the Lego Kingdoms line. I loved the Lego Castles line as a kid, and was glad to see my son take an interest in the new version (it was his allowance and his choice). This set comes with a horse, prison carriage and three minifigures - two "good" knights and a "bad" knight. The knights come with all sorts of helmets, swords, shields and other gear.
Complexity: There are exactly 50 pieces in this set, and it's the first Lego set my son - who is almost 5 - was able to build by himself (I helped with the instructions, but he handled all the actual assembly).
Playability: This set has a high fun quotient. They give you enough to stage a basic scenario - one of the good knights busts his friend out of jail - but there are plenty of stories an imaginative kid can come up with. My favorite so far: the incarceration of the LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 2 Mime for crimes against the kingdom!
This is a terrific introductory set to the Lego Kingdoms line. I can already tell it will be the first of many for our little Lego fan!
