(More customer reviews)I wish I had paid more attention to the sheer number of pieces included in this building set. I thought it was more of a play alone item, but my son definitely isn't interested in playing with it unless someone is pretty much putting it together for him and it takes quite a while. Once it's all together he LOVES it, but that just doesn't happen that often.

Battlestorm Castle is the scene of an ultimate face-off between the Aurios and Argentix--a climactic conflict bound to either resolve or completely fuel the never-ending wars between these armies of powerful dragons, beasts, and warriors. Though the Aurios will valiantly defend Battlestorm Castle against the invading Argentix forces, it is he who controls the Dragons Crest and Plasma Krystals that controls the destiny of the realm.
Your goal is to capture the Dragons Crest and accumulate all the Plasma Krystals in order to fulfill the promise of ancient legend and gain supreme power. But beware! Battlestorm Castle harbors dark secrets. Built atop a dragon's nest, it is rumored that parts of the castle can attach to dragons in mystical ways and activate insurmountable powers.
With 405 pieces, this set can be used to create small battle scenes or the large castle. The modular pieces make it easy to build and give multiple construction options for true imaginative play. Once the imposing structure is completed, it defends itself via a firing ballista and launching catapult, a drawbridge that can be lowered or raised, and secret trap areas--all at your command. Two vehicles are also included so that your army can more easily move around if under attack.
The title of this set is Battlestorm, and the characters battling each other are included to make the adventure more realistic. There are three warriors from the Aurios side (Rimmerstryke, Augustor, and Wrangbryn) and three from the opposing Argentix camp (Strykastel, Dryaxor, and Stielbane). Other accessories that come with the set are a creature, a wizard, the highly sought-after Mitewizen Plasma Krystal, and three fully poseable dragons: Skullrattle, Groggskorn, and Rynther.
With an engaging background story, fantastical characters, and a huge number of interlocking pieces, Battlestorm Castle is an excellent set for boys 6 years and older. Developmental benefits include creativity and imagination through inventiveness with character interaction, focus and attention through the sequential and repetitive tasks, and fine motor skills through handling and connecting pieces.
