(More customer reviews)When my son saw this in the store he immediately clamped himself on to it as if it were his salvation. Despite his parent's failure to cave into to his demands, Santa remembered and this showed up at Christmas.
For our son (5 at the time) who is an avid lego builder the building was not hard, he had it together pretty quickly. However in terms of play it simply wasn't that exciting. The range of motion of the crane is limited, it simply goes up and down. While this may be realistic of a container loader its not very gratifying.
A recent birthday brought LEGO City XXL Mobile Crane which is more complicated (but not probably harder to build), and more expensive, but much more versitile in terms of play.

It's a busy day in LEGO City. Kids can help load and stack containers with an expandable moving arm. Includes truck, two containers, cargo and two mini figures. Combine with Port of LEGO City, sold separately, to complete the role-play experience. 218 pieces.
